THE CHALLENGES FACED BY TEACHERS WHEN USING INNOVATIVE PEDAGOGICAL PRACTICES IN ELEMENTARY EDUCATION

Abstract

This is a descriptive study with a qualitative approach, conducted in the municipality of Patos, in the state of Paraíba, using a state public school as the research setting. In the classroom context, it is essential to employ methodological strategies that can be recognized as innovative and capable of awakening the thinking, critical, and creative aspects of each student. Thus, to conduct a class creatively, the teacher can use various methods to motivate students to learn and encourage their participation in the educational process; creativity can be seen as a factor that makes a difference in the classroom, fostering student engagement and creating new learning situations. This research reveals that the teaching-learning process at the Coriolano de Medeiros State Elementary School is proceeding steadily and that the school's teachers, when conducting their classes, strive to establish a connection with the students' everyday realities. All interviewees recognize the importance of creativity in the classroom and have a clear understanding of what constitutes a creative teacher.
