The article proposes to systematize some theoretical concepts from the contemporary sociological and educational theory (Bernard Charlot and the relationship with knowledge, Anthony Giddens and the theory of Structuration, Margaret Archer and the Internal Conversation) to compose a framework that provides a better understanding the phenomenon of the feminization of universities. It is understood that a theoretical scaffolding of these characteristics must fully account for the different tensions, social positions and subjective motivations to which women and men are subject in contemporary societies in order to explain the phenomenon of the increasing formal education of women. The article ends by illustrating some findings already presented in other works.
