PLAYFULNESS AND PLAY IN STRENGTHENING PEDAGOGICAL PRACTICES

Abstract

 Play is an act that constitutes human nature, it is through this action that individuals manifest their perceptions of the world, presenting narratives created in child logic. Playfulness is a pedagogical tool capable of providing enriching constructions of knowledge and autonomy, promoting a broad context of experimentation, exploration and creativity for children. Therefore, in this action research study, we sought to explore the role of playfulness and play in childhood, seeking to understand its importance in the school environment, through the implementation of pedagogical workshops, which addressed the musicality, body movement, storytelling, games and games. This article documents the development and results of the workshops held in an institution of early childhood education in Recife-PE. It was highlighted the power of these practices as essential tools for the development of fundamental skills in the integral formation of the child, when developing relevant activities in the experiences of the school community. The research methodology used qualitative approaches, including observations and interviews, to guide actions in the research field. This work demonstrated, what previous researches also emphasize, the relevance of play and playfulness in early childhood education. The benefits of the playful aspect were evidenced in the promotion of interest in learning, increased motivation and stimulation of the significant teaching-learning process. In addition, the results revealed significant contributions, including improvements in motor coordination and the development of affectivity, cognition, cooperation and socialization of children, culminating in an integral evolution. Through the workshops, the potential to promote not only academic learning, but also the emotional and social well-being of children was highlighted.
